It is a pleasure to be in the cover story of the Italian ceramic magazine. “la Ceramica Moderna & Antica”. The editor gave me the opportunity to tell my story and my art concept. On the cover it is portrayed my piece, named “Cubo II”, which is part of my new art direction FIGULINAE.

The article was written by Domenico Iaracà, who goes back to the beginning of my ceramic life, from my studies in Florence and at the Goldsmiths College in London. In my new work FIGULINAE the compressions of the small vases into a well-defined form, connect a plurality of individuals. So my aim is, not the re-proposal of the cold homologation in regular forms, but the tension of forces and the balances that interact between the components.

Ceramic Colour Award Faenza 2018

With the participation at the 2nd Edition of the Ceramic Colours Award 2018 competition in Faenza, I received the honorable mention. This piece is composed by small porcelain vases thrown on the potters wheel and composed together to one unique art object titled, “Giochi di Colori”, which means Play of Colours. Each vase contains different thick transparent coloured glazes, which range from blue to red, from green to yellow.

2 Porzellan Biennale Meissen

The 2^nd Porzellan Biennale in Meissen will be opened on Sunday the 12^th of August in the Albrechtsburg in Meissen (Germany) at 2.oo pm. I am very honoured to be part of this interesting porcelain exhibition. Meissen and Dresden are two of the first cities where porcelain has been produced in the past, in fact they have, in that area, a very strong connection and tradition for porcelain

La Ceramica in Circolo

The first stage of the collective itinerant exhibition “La ceramica in Circolo”, presenting works of 35 different artists, will be in Faenza, during the ceramic festival Argillà, opening on the 30^th of August at 6.00 pm at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni. My piece “Arcobaleno” will be shown in the exhibition.

My new work FIGULINAE will be seen at one of the most famous ceramic events in France, coming up on the 13^th until the 15^th of July. My work “Riflessi Marini”, which you can see on the advertising poster, will be on the show together with a lot of other pieces.

Until the 26th of November you can visit the 3rd edition of the Cluj Ceramics Biennale in Cluj-Napoka, Romania. My three wall-piece “CELLULE” and the three pieces titled “DICES” are been selected in the final exhibition.

XXXIX Concorso Internazionale della Ceramica d’Arte città di Gualdo Tadino

It is always a great challenge to express oneself in a ceramic work for an international competition like the one in Gualdo Tadino, which this year has the theme “L’acqua meraviglia della terra” (“Water wonder of the earth”). With the work “Riflessi Marini” I would like to interpret the beauty of the sea’s waves, with their continuously changing colours, both because of the movement and because of the reflection of the light.

New Work: FIGULINAE

The name of my new work is given by my home town.
Here in Roman and medieval times, “figulinae” were produced: small vases, statues or bricks out of clay.
My idea was to throw many miniature vases on a potter’s wheel and put them in well-defined forms.
With this act of pressure, which I like to consider artistic, the small vases shape themselves and their combination gives birth to the final work, the result of an “unformed put into form”.
Already in 1985 I began to use the pressure movement on single round vessels to emphasize the shaping and make them how I like, irregular.

Functional vases, which on a small scale lose its original purpose, become work of art.

My piece “GELBLICH” can be seen until the end of July in the Westerwald Keramikmuseum in Hoehr Grenzhausen, Germany.
